Haughton challenge to Australian power stations
Justice Craig of the NSW Land and Environment Court heard Mr Haughton's legal challenge to the concept plan approvals for the Mount Piper and Bayswater B power stations, but has reserved his judgement on whether the concept plan approvals were validly granted.
On 15, 16, 17 and 20 September 2010, Justice Craig of the NSW Land and Environment Court heard Mr Haughton's legal challenge to the concept plan approvals for the Mount Piper and Bayswater B power stations. Justice Craig has reserved his judgement on whether the concept plan approvals were validly granted.
If Haughton's case is successful, this will require proponents of major coal-fired power station in NSW to assess the contribution of particular projects to global emissions, and the impacts of those global emissions on NSW and Australia.
